A funny thing happened a lunch today. Two of the freshly minted college grads asked for me to explain the fundamentals of the National Debt, how it impacts them and what its ramifications were. I was sitting at the bar talking and drawing on a 2'X3' poster to explain the flow, impacts, interest loads and all that. It took about 10 minutes. When I was done I heard a question behind me. Turned out a group of 40 waiting for tables before the UK game saw what I was doing and started paying attention. I ended up with 30 minutes of discussion and cold food. The last part got fixed.
I find the number of people who say "I didn't realize that" or "so that's how it works" is mindnumbing yet they vote for a party which gives the best 30 second soundbite on the subject.
Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
