Ah... Reminds me off all the times I have driven on bias ply tires. They are eminently predictable and slide ever so gracefully. Problem is they slide instead of hold. The E Types handle and drive great. Sometimes they even work too.

Jeez, I drove one of those when it was just bought NEW. Owning a normal, rational car was never an option after driving a car like this. I have always wanted to get one of these but can't justify it and now, can't get in and out as easily.

A blue one was my childhood friends first car at 18 (followed by a Maserati Mexico).
We had many 'memorable' drives, especially when not exactly sober, and at night.
My friend was afflicted by night blindness.
In retrospect, its surprising we didn't get killed many times over during the years when we were young enough to still 'know everything.'
Obviously, I managed to somehow survive those years, my friend unfortunately did not.

My father had a 3.8 Mark II, and I still think it was a great looking car.
Apropos Lucas, if I remember correctly, they had to lift the engine to change the ignition distributor points.
One of my wife's cousin in Ark cars is a red XKE V12 convertible I get to drive when I am there.
Another is a Pantera, no slouch either.

A NZ company builds the Mk II, incorporating present day drive train, suspension, brakes etc.
I would love to own one of these:
