Why is neutral considered better? Most would not consider that the case. If you are a minority, female, handicapped or nearing retirement age, neutral is not particularly neutral. And work standards go well beyond employment rights.
According to the WHO, quality of care in not always better here in the states. It really depends on many factors. It is considered much more equal in Europe. That is one of the problem with the differentials between hospitals here, uneven service. And while you can't be denied EMERGENCY care, you can certainly be denied general care.
Why should I have to pay for someone who does not take care of themselves? If you are poor or you are old you have Medicaid/medicare. If you are neither then you usually have benefits through your employer.
Do NOT take this to mean that I think our healthcare system is perfect or inexpensive. What I AM saying is that the general model of nationalized health care that is being bandied about has a lot more negatives than our current system does, IMHO.
Please talk more about Work standards. I am still not entirely seeing where you are going with it.
