NP, you can be as ugly as you want to be. Just letting you know that it was showing.

Bushie's kids... that reminds me, are we going to get actual adult supervision of the bailouts now?

Given this is a thread about the military, not sure what you mean by ugly: uglier than killing ?

ugly in the sense of reflecting poorly upon your character?

but no matter. it's not that big a deal.

No matter. Just provoking a response...

Yes, the ugly truth is that bear/ogrenutz, in spite of their views, played a closer role in the killing fields of Iraq than any of us on our couches. The "I am just taking orders" defense does not fly.

I would hope so. I really hope someone audits Paulson's company credit card before signing off on his departure.

I would imagine we will get more transparency and hopefully more focus on generating jobs instead of just supporting the financial sector which, while necessary doesn't matter if folks have no confidence to buy or no jobs in which to use to gain credit.

Rebuilding confidence in the economy and in the country are going to be the hardest and most pressing two jobs that Obama has to do. And having adults running the bailout should help both of those.

"In spite of" implies that one cannot become enlightened or awakened by the experience of warfare. But it has happened many times.

Also note, not everyone who served in the military advertises it.

Sacrificing one's values, life and limbs for the country... isn't that the military way ?
But I have to note that, on the other hand, I am just the coward on the couch watching the news.

Iraq was not decided by the military. It was decided in the White House. That is the role that counts.

As for the "I am just taking orders". Yes it does fly. If a soldier is taking a legal order it is perfectly fair. He might not like it but it is his duty. If he has a moral conflict, he should not put himself in that position.
