That would mean I'd have to continue to use IE. Which I loathe.

But now that I'm off the Mac, I guess I can give Chrome a try.

The burden is on you really. Think about it, this is like any other social settings with a bunch of cavemen running the show. It's a fun place if you can throw them some meat then watch them club each other. Try it!

I refuse to consider Chrome on ethical grounds (99% Firefox here).

I believe the Internet was a better place before Google swatted and killed its competition. The Internet used to feature several search engines, including Alta Vista, Excite, Lycos, and HotBot (Yahoo was at that time an Index, rather than a search engine). They all decided to get into the advertising game, and up popped Google, offering search integrity and an ad-free interface. The competition died a fairly swift and painless death, and with its slick and clean ad-free interface, Google reined supreme.

The problem is that once the competition was killed off, Google also slowly eased into advertising game, at first separating the ads from the search results in a manner that retained its integrity, but ever so slowly slid toward a merger that now make it quite difficult for many to understand where the ads stop and the search results begin. Beyond that, we now have an entirely Google-driven Internet. If you are a retailer who depends on Internet-driven sales, you either construct and maintain a Google-friendly Website, or you die. Before Google took over, you had more freedom to create the Website you wanted, since in the end, you would probably be listed favorably on some but not all search engines no matter what.

The only dimly shining light in all of this has been Yahoo, which entered the search engine game a couple of years ago, banking on the excellent reputation it had garnered as an index to propel it into competition with Google. Yahoo has been successful in carving out a small piece of the pie, but not nearly enough to shake the stranglehold Google has on the Internet. I fear that the addition of Chrome to the browser field will only strengthen that grip.

OH, it's THAT kind of forum. I thought I could just come here and get some help with my cars and have a few laughs in the OT section.

No this is one of the BEST social fora to study human nature. The whole spectrum of human behavior/misbehavior is all represented in here. If you need to write a paper on anything just come in here for a one place shopping/research. Oh, it's a also a good place to pick on someone and let them have it if you were frustrated in any way because of anything anytime anywhere. It can also be a place where you make friends with perverts, misunderstood, weirdos and sometimes some very intelligent people.
Now if you show us some provocative pictures we may mellow out and let you in on some other secrets so your Benz will work real good. Just to give you a hint, we know how to make your car run on water but that will require a full frontal, side and back viewing.

DJ Zippy is a dude from the UK that spins all over the world. Badass DJ, actually. Ironic, that's all. Especially when your dj name is registered trademark. No?
