I can't sleep. I can't work. It's difficult to eat right now.
The arctic snap is causing a greater reliance on dry heat and I am suffering all manner of dried and semi dried snot blockages. It's bad enough that my nasal passages are swollen nearly shut but the ever hardening mucous is completely annoying.
The worst ones are the the "Swinging Doors". These are the boogers that are semi detached and swing open and closed with every breath. I expel these invaders regularly to the point of incurring bloody nasal passages but no matter how many I evict, there's a fresh set following right behind.
They don't come out in predictable colors, either. Greenish, blueish, black...tinted with red. Shapes and textures are also beyond my ability to forecast. Round, ovoid, bumps with gnarly roots from where it was attached to the wall of my nose. Nothing you can put your finger on. No pun intended.
Sometimes, you think you can snork them back in and clear the airways but the feeling of a hard pellet bouncing off of the back of my throat can induce a gag reflex that lasts longer than I would like. The sudden surprise of a huge lugie in my esophagus also undesirable so I don't understand why I even try that maneuver.
The only ones that are mildly amusing are the ones when you wake up and find that the mucous has dried against the wall of your nose and it comes out like a perfect cast of the inside of your body. That's kind of cool. Otherwise...
