Okay, as promised, I went home and revved the engine while in park. I couldn't hear the noise at all. As previously suggested, I'm beginning to suspect something in the drive train...

I'd like to say thank you to those of you who have provided helpful information and opinions.

For the rest of ya', I got nothin'.

Wait. You have a Jeep, in Japan.

You're double-fucked with a happy smile.

^Forgive QBNCGR, his butt plug is lost. If there is another Jeep dealer, or if you can talk to the actual mechanic, that would be your best bet. I presume the Jeep is still under warranty.

You had a friend making Laotian sausage (you called it tube-gerbil for some reason), I said I'd try some. I never expected you to send me a fucking cardboard tube and a gerbil, in a shrink-wrapped box, via ground. What do you want me to do with a dead gerbil, ship it back?

LOL! You guys are cracking me up.

Shane, yes, it's still under warranty. Approaching two years from date of purchase and only 15,500 km driven. Whatever they end up doing, it'll be on their dime. I just hope their loaner car isn't a tiny little POS. btw, since they don't keep many parts in stock, they have to order everything from the states. Judging from how long they took to get the back gate lifter arms, I'm guessing they ship them strapped to a penguin and route it through Antarctica.
