Back to Windows

The great Mac experiment is over. Goodbye, MacBook Pro 17". Hello, Dell Latitude E6500. I still have an iMac at home, but my "production" work laptop has now been replaced with something that doesn't run OS X, and I loathe it.

What did they do with the Macs?

I wonder what the rationale was for "switching back?" You can run Windows on the existing machines, so why junk a good asset? Jim

We were just doing a pilot test to see if they were feasible for us. They aren't. Since I'm in IT and support myself, I kept it anyway. Wasn't too much I couldn't do on it, but that wouldn't be true for most. At the end of the day, the lack of a comprehensive hardware support program is what did them in.

I still have a Mac Pro for video editing, complete with 30" Cinema Display, but I don't use it as my "production" system to steal a banking term, which means my primary all-day every-day system is this nice Dell running a shitty operating system.

There's always Linux. a good Ubuntu or Suse distro would be a place to start.

I'm a pedanterast. What can I say? I keep intending to check with Sly to see how he's doing but it's been so long, I bet he's backsliding into an entire year's worth of ends of the days.

Dig's edit: Heh. I googled "pedanterast just for grins.
