Something that will need a transmission before you hit 100K and will have electrical gremlins the day after you wake up and realized you have been taken for a ride by a dealership the night before. You will be a sore but a hot bath will sooth as long as they didn't tear anything.
I drove a Mercury Sable version of the Taurus as a rental in Florida a few months ago and it was actually very nice. I was surprised. I hate to say it but it was virtually indistinguishable from my E in many ways. Not as powerful but very quiet, no rattles and tight driving. I drove it and a CTS the same week and they were both in the very same ballpark of quality, nothing to be ashamed of.
I was very surprised when Mercury canceled the Sable, though I have not understood the need for parallel platforms that they and GM carry for a long time. The character differences have been removed making it a moot point.
