Thumbs up Absinthe Ban Lifted - Welcome Home Green Fairy

I bought some absinthe tonight and did a side by side comparison with some stuff I got from France. I made a few Absinthe Martinis and they were perfect.
Welcome to Vieux Carré Absinthe

There were two brands at the liquor store. This one is 60% and the other was 53 or 54% alcohol.

Here's the one we got tonight:

Here's the one I got from France, shipped via the U.K.:

Here's an article about the Absinthe I bought. It's made here in Philly and the article mentions that the ban has been lifted.

there is a little distillery in the hinterland here on the Gold Coast that took out the World Gold medal for Absinthe in Brussels last year, I have not tasted it however - it could be crap.

Today I got home and on the radio they were talking abut this.
I cut few branches of wormwood from my yard and stuffed the leaves in a gallon wine jug and fill it with red wine.
The rest I boiled as tea for me and the bees.

That's cool. The "Un Emile" that I had shipped here is 68% too. It was a little pricey once shipping costs were added, so I'm happy I can get a decent Absinthe at home now without shipping charges.

I actually like the stuff I got tonight better than anything I've tried to date. Once prepared, it had a cool swirl on the top and had a creamy texture to it.

Without distillation, that must be a bitter libation.

You guys are aware that this stuff is quite different from the 19 century Absinthe which great French poets and painters drank.

Right?
