Well dude, I'm perfectly willing to defer to your depth of experience on this issue (and I'm sincere about that), but do explain why Quattro was explicitly banned from these motorsports circuits? All things being even according to the rules outlined by the SCCA, Audi should've just been another competitor, especially given their power deficit. Instead, they dominated. That tells me they had a technology advantage, which boils down to their Quattro AWD system.

I don't know why Audi was banned, I just know the fundamentals about awd and what I've experienced in my racing days. No sanctioned racing body uses awd except for rally cars which need traction in dirt. You are going against the grain and one ban versus the near entire world of paved motorsport smells fishy or riddled with particulars I know not nor am intrigued enough to inquire about. Traction is all awd is good for, it cannot, even by its design, help the high or low polar moment of inertia of a vehicle.

My shop's nearly finished, so the wagon goes in for some substantial upgrades. Mercedes vs. whatever Caddy has 300 - 350hp. Bring it on

Um... You way want to wait a few until you get it to the 500hp range.

If you wait until this winter we will have an '85 Fleetwood Brougham De Elegance coupe in triple white to run too. We are going for 600 hp in it. It is a 5k original mile car.

The thinking from here was to wait until they changed the sheets in the room you and Multiprupose used.

[shudderrrrr] painful yes, but still holding on, smiling through gritted teeth

I'm probably limited 450hp in fully streetable form with the stock bottom end and head on the OM603, so I'm trying to be conservative with my estimates. Assuming I can mitigate lag issues, I bet the torque output could equalize sub-100mph acceleration stats nicely. A proper sooty plume would be the perfect antidote to the glare from those fake chrome headlight surrounds
