From what I can tell Burrus is a legit nomination with the exception of the sign-off by the Illinois Secretary of State.

Until his papers are in order, he can't be sworn in. Simple rules. And until then it is an Illinois political problem. I would assume their state Supreme Court will rule on the validity of the appointment [and requirement of the SecState to sign off on it] in due course. Until then we get the most corrupt state in the nation playing its little tableau out on national TV.

I think the status of "governors currently in the state/federal penitentiary" throws the ball in Illinois court. I know it is sad for Cajun country but they are certainly close.

If this Congress has nothing to say after Dennis Kucinich had read a three hour detailed impeachment indictment against Bush on the floor of the Congress several months ago, they have no business even talking about Blagojevich, or challenge his appointee to the Senate.

If there was an indictment against Bush based on alleged talking about invading Iraq on false pretenses, it would be labeled as unfounded and ridiculous. Except that Bush DID invade Iraq on false pretenses and we know the consequences.

^ Bush was never going to be impeached. Remember, he had a few hundred accomplices on Capital Hill. Folks like Hillary Clinton, who gave a speech on the senate floor rallying support for the war, despite her failure to read the then current National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq.

Has misspelling the man's name become trendy in BWOT?

Like a sheep, I followed Bear . . . last time I do that. I edited, couldn't change it.
