I nominate this post for being the first "sticky" post. We need to be able to find this in 4 and 8 and 12 years and examine it to see if yoseyman still buys Palin as the heart and soul of the Republican "conservative" party. You know, the one from Alaska where the budget has been balanced on backs of BP and ExxonMobil and the high oil prices plaguing the rest of the country. Lets see how Palin does when she needs to deal with the regular issues that face every other Governor. Starts with an "R" - Revenue.

Richardson apparently was not forthcoming on the subject of this investigation. I think he got the boot from Obama. Bad judgment if he didn't spill the beans when he had the chance. Jim

A palpable fear of Palin oozes from your words. I love it...

McCain missed the boat with by not going for the Liebermann pick, there were plenty of Democrats who thought Obama was too far to the left and that was McCain's one chance to bring Democrats into his column. Instead he went for the pick that would get him votes he already had. Stupid. I also hope the far right's love affair with that lightweight air head Palin continues, as long as she is the leader of the GOP, moderate Republicans will continue to convert to Democrats and the GOP will be washed up forever.

I think the RWNJ's are about to get a severe kick in the ass. Moderate Republicans in the Senate are going to solve the Democrat's 60 vote problem. Olympia Snowe of Maine made a speech this week where she essentially said she's had her fill of the "Palin Wing". Northern Republicans know that if they are to stay in office, they need to jettison the Palinites,

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

I really don't think VP pick was going to make any difference, it was a Dem cycle, and nothing short of a major screw-up was going to put a dent in that.

RWNJs will hold the GOP, as long as hate radio leads the way. Don't misunderestimate how many people in this country want to be told what to think. OTOH, I agree that moderate (sane) Republicans will continue to leave the party in droves, but for now most consider themselves homeless...

Bush is a NeoCon of the first magnitude. That is not Conservative but it is certainly not Liberal.

So the question becomes, why don't the Conservatives either spin off to their own party which would better allow them to call their own shots via coalition building or move to stop the NeoCon element. Damned near every survey puts them at only 28% max.
