John Travolta's son dies in Bahamas

NASSAU (Reuters) - The teenage son of actor John Travolta died suddenly on Friday during a family vacation in the Bahamas, according to the family's lawyer.

Jett Travolta, 16, suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island, attorney Michael Ossi said.

Attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene, Ossi said.

Jett, who had a history of seizures, was the eldest child of Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston. They also have a daughter, Ella Blue, who was born in 2000.

Sad! My condolences John

He had serious life long health problems.

Travolta married actress Kelly Preston in 1991. They have a daughter named Ella Bleu (born in 2000); their son Jett (born in 1992) died on January 2, 2009 at the age of 16, from a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas.[9] He had suffered from Kawasaki disease which can cause a variety of painful side effects, including seizures, and sometimes lead to heart problems.

I hope it's not drug related...

Depressing. He may be kinda batshit crazy with the whole scientology thing but he appears to be a genuinely good guy.

What pisses me off more than anything is that the conceited Scientologist motherfucker never, ever, once admitted the kid was disabled. I agree with those that have said all along that the kid has autism. Come on, look at the pics. It's a terrible tragedy for the family, but the denial and refusal to be seen in public with the kid is shameless.

<<"Scientology is keeping him from acknowledging his son's autism. They see it as a weakness," Kenny told Ebner.

According to the Church of Scientology, people with mental illnesses are "degraded" and capable of curing themselves by working harder on the church's teachings.

"It's fine with me if Travolta doesn't want to become the poster child for autistic parents, but every time the parent of an autistic child hears about someone else who is in this fight, it makes them feel better," said the editor who interviewed him.

"He could do so much good for autism awareness if he would just come forward.">

Sorry, but as the parent of a disabled daughter, this just pushes all my buttons...
