hahaha...oh lord....By this logic ( which may be wrong since I'm just an uneducated fool in the military) The POTUS is the CIC, and since the military is "public servant, there to serve and not express opinion" I guess the POTUS's advisers(military members) can not give their opinions since the CIC out ranks them, and we are not allowed to form an opinion, so whatever the CIC goes. I guess 420 SE wants a one man show
well since you decided to elaborate after I had posted a response... no I am not suggesting a one man show. I have previously agreed with you regarding the need for advisors, however, the buck stops with the position, it is the position which is accountable, not the advisors, not the enlisted persons who carry out the orders, but the POTUS, who will live or die by the ballot.
Expression of an opinion for public consumption versus advice provided in cabinet are two distinctly different things.
If you are advocating that each member of the service should be allowed to shoot their mouth off about whatever they feel like, obey or disobey whichever orders (legitimate) they they choose, then the accountability does move from those ordering to those doing.
You asked not to have your intelligence measured by your military service, but unfortunately you are playing to the 'dumb as dog shit' stereotype a little too well.
I am quietly confident that you are not in fact like that, but am disturbed that you seem to fail to discern the distinction between the roles and responsibilities.
