I thought about it for about 1 second at the time but having to change my Jakarta plans, get a ticket to Singapore, get the certificates out of the Jakarta safety deposit box, book a Singapore hotel, pack a bag, take a 45 minute ride to the airport, take a 90 minute plane ride to Singapore, check-in to the hotel, go down and sell the certificates and then go back to Jakarta. Just to turn around and do the same thing when I feel it has hit the bottom and then have to do all of the above again and with the wife (which we all know slow things down as well as an unexpected shopping trip to materialize as well).

I have to take the wife as the certs are made out as either/or so if I drop dead tomorrow she can redeem them with no hassle or vice versa. It is tied up or 6 months for either her or I if the other drops dead and then you have to get the Singapore lawyers and courts involved, hence the 6 months waiting period to be declared your property.

Oh and let's be sure, it was no where near 1600 SGD, Gold peaked at just above 1000 USD around the 17th ot 18th of March and the USD vs SGD at that time was closer to 1325 SGD per 1000 USD. Not to mention what I would have lost due ot the bank taking it's cut. I'll wait, Gold still has a ways to run before I cash in what we hold.

Who's the "we" here? The only one of those events I was alive for was 1968, and, being 9 years old, didn't really give me pause. How old are you, Jay?

I was 10/11 at the time and I was traumatized, so much so, that 5 years later I had to start experimenting with alcohol and drugs...........

Because it lacks context. It is a fish to bicycle comparison.

He could have also added the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island to the list to continue the "it could have been worse" comparitors but that would also not have been relevent to the current issue.

The crux of the National Review article is an attempt to whitewash the current crisis, to help Bushie not look so bad in history by trying to drag up other things that have also been bad, as if that somehow would minimize the damage he has done and somehow improve his legacy by saying "Gosh, it could be worse, we could be in a Civil War!". Fish to Bicycles to Peanutbutter.

And welcome to OT.

I think you are confused again.

And where is that fair and balanced "positive" list? It seems pretty short. After Bushie threw out the first pitch at the 2001 World Series, it was down hill.

Umm..........

I may be a bit tired / groggy, but whatever the reason, I can't figure out how that's relevant.
