Every time you make a purchase at Wal-Mart a 9yo kid in Bangladesh get's his ass kicked and his bowl of mush confiscated for breaking the bobbin-thread.

It's a lot like life.

From my travels across this great nation, it appears to me that where ever a wally*world appears other businesses soon follow.

Now that may or may not have an affect the older established businesses, whether that be good or bad you can decide.
Out with the old, in with the new.

No, because they aren't unionized. Which is still not a compelling argument.

You mean the hurrah, tanning and nails places? Or the Chinese takeout places?

All seem to have a lifespan of 12-18 months and leave empty retail space that eventually houses "Colleges", Salvation Army stores and Dollar Stores (which almost certainly sell the stuff too cheap or unsellable even for Wal-Mart.

Face it, retail has sucked for years. Because of Wal-mart.
Or maybe Wal-Mart has sucked for years, because of retail.

I can't keep it straight since I opened this bottle of Peat Monster.....

Capitalism is inherently evil – the Chinese have proved that, they’re very good at it. It is however less evil than any other system and like democracy I’ll live with its imperfection. Wal-Mart is no more or less evil than any other commercial entity. And malls – strip or otherwise – were sticking it to the little guys long before Wal-Mart.

Yep, and when the little guys are gone, wal mart will charge you $10 for a loaf of bread.

It is too easy to hate the well run business. Easy to love the down and out locals. I guess we are forever embedded with the David versus Goliath syndrome.

It is a world economy. To not take advantage of it is more than inept. All businesses are run the same, why not spread the hate around?
