(we were in a strip mall parking lot) i yelled back at him telling him you dont even yell at a dog the way your yelling at me which pissed him of even more.

i got out of the van and a crowd started gathering as the cops were making a scene so i told them( the crowd) what the cops were doing. the female cop then told me i could not tell the crowd what was going on or she would arrest me for inciting a riot! this was the biggest piece of bullshit i ever heard. i wasn't even screaming at the crowd because we were all on the curb.

anyway i had to stop talking to the pedestrians and the cops finally calmed down, maybe it was due to my uncle's detective pba card, but i never even got a ticket. all of that for nothing. go figure?

freedom of speech in this country is too subjective.
You're lucky you don't have a toilet plunder protruding from your rectum.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

France: Cross removed at Catholic clinic

Employees removed a crucifix in a room at the Catholic clinic Saint-Vincent de Paul in Bourgoin-Jallieu after the Muslim father of a patient demanded they do so before treating his daughter.

Marie-Therese Besson, manager of the clinic, says that people who choose to be treated at the clinic know that they are a Catholic establishment. It says so clearly at the entrance and the nurses wear a Catholic habit. She adds that there is a small crucifix in every room. In this incident the nurse did what was necessary to calm down the situation.

The Saint Vincent de Paul Bourgoin-Jallieu clinic is part of l'Alliance des maternités catholiques. Sister Marie-Mathieu, head of the board of directors for l'Alliance des maternités catholiques, says the issue will be brought up in the next meeting of the ethics committee. She say that they occasionally face such situations in their institutions, the last time being several months ago when a father broke a crucifix in a clinic in Aix-en-Provence and threw it in the trash. That incident was not tolerated.

The administration says that they regularly treat Muslim women and respect their wish to be veiled. Sister Marie-Mathieu says that such incidents go against the basic tenant of mutual respect.

In the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Exam) for which I am preparing and every medical student has to clear all 3 parts before they start their residency, a board question is:
"A patient in the hospital asks you to pray with them and they are of a different religion than yours, a religion you don't believe in or a religion that goes against your beliefs or you are an atheist, etc. What do you do?"
ANS: You DO IT or at least act like you are praying even though you are not.
" If a patient ask you to hold a cross for them while they are in surgery or an idol God, or any other symbol or etc. What do you do?"
ANS: YOU TAKE IT!

In medicine, it is the duty of the provider to make the patient comfortable at all costs unless it affects others.

The hospital did the right thing. Maybe we as a society should learn a lesson from this hospital.

I disagree!
If the clinic is Catholic then that's what it is, it's its character. Sometimes the client/patient has to confirm rather than the other way around. That Muslim patient can hang whatever religious stuff he wants in his house and the clinic or anyone else ain't gonna ask him to put it down. Let me put it in another way; should I walk in your house I am not going to ask you to put down or away those Koranic verses you have on the wall even if I don't agree with their content. You sure in hell ain't gonna tell me in my house to remove the nude pictures and sculptures that I have here and there. You don't like seeing nude, beautiful, succulent women then it's too bad, we can have a conversation in my basement perhaps... Oh wait, I got chains, handcuffs and whips in there

Drew I respectfully have to agree AND disagree. I agree with everything you have said. I also agree that if a Muslim, or an atheist, or a Jew or a Hindu has a problem, THEN CHOOSE ANOTHER INSTITUTION! In a case of a medical emergency I do believe that the patients sometimes do not have a choice in the matter and is brought to the nearest hospital ( accident, labor, heart attack. ) At this stage the patients or the family members REALLY shouldn't be thinking about this kind of stuff anyways because their loved one is ABOUT TO DIE! But there are people like that. Sometimes it is better for an institution or doctor to just go along with the patient. After all the ultimate goal of everyone is patient care and to relieve the person of their misery. And if the hospital/institution obliges, then it is MIGHTY BIG OF 'EM The patient should show gratitude.

Dude, what if a "practicing" Muslim, Orthodox Jew or Bible thumping Christian showed up in my hospital and this was my policy for dress code?

Your argument does not hold water. They either have to accept the treatment and enjoy the view or GTFO

That's the spirit, besides that's really a God's creature, sort of satanic maybe but it sure will heal me if I was hurt. The sooner I get better the sooner I will pray with thanks don't you think?
