The first Black president is actually not black

Many People insist that "the first black president" is actually not black.

Born of a White Kansan and a Black Kenyan dosn't make him African-American which he identifies with.

My point is America has never had a Native American president so what makes Obama an African-American? As apposed to me being a Irish-American?

If you thank you can or you thank you can't your right

I understood that many black Americans whose parents were BOTH born in the USA still refer to themselves as "African Americans". As Barack's dad was born in Africa,I think that gives him even greater justification for using the term if he so wishes. As for 'correctness", I guess we could refer to him as bi-racial.But at the end of the day,it is simply MORE RESPECTFUL to use the term preferred by the specific person in question.

But hey,wtf do I know; I'm Canadian.

A person is considered Native American if they are at least 1/4 Indian. That would be a start.

Now, If you were a McAllister, you might be part Irish or part Scottish, depending on when and where your McAllisters wandered between County Antrim in Northern Ireland and 12 miles across the water on the Isle of Kintyre in Scotland. So ye might not be as much Irish as Scot. Or maybe both, hence, Scot-Irish.

McBear,
Kentucky

He IS African American in the truest sense. He father was African and his mother was American so he is "African-American."
