AUTO POLITICS

Who is playing? GM says thay have to have a bailout (loan) or they will go bankrupted (chapter 11) Ford says they don't need the money.

So with auto manufactures every year is election year. Ford may be saying our company is strong and we will be here for years to come so buy with confidence while GM may not.

Or is GM playing the wounded duck card and has to file chapter 11 looking long term like no UAW. and five years from now doing grate. And ford can't compete because of there union.

Oh the games they play?

If you thank you can or you thank you can't your right

Ford simply says they don't need the quick part, they have not said they don't need money. They just have a different burn rate than GM.

The politics of this is the NeoCon roadblock is to help bust the unions. That is going to have unintended consequences.

Yes. And it is also blatantly protectionist - the non-union auto industry (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, BMW & MB) is largely located in Republican states.

Yep, but their suppliers are not. And if suppliers go out of business that will reduce competition and have the opportunity to make costs go up for everyone. Or push more work for suppliers that were doing Toyota/Ford over to India or China.

Anyway, I thought Republicans were against protectionism. "free market" kinda guys.
