i know the auto bailout is different then the financial sector bailout but when the banks asked and received our 700 billion none of the politicians seemed to care about their outrageous salaries and bonuses. hell some of the bank execs openly flaunted it in our face.

now these same politicians are concerned about middle class wages these auto worker make?
i don't like the idea of tax payer bailouts but if we have to chose between helping middle class worker or bank employees who average $300k in salaries, then my vote is for the middle class

Reluctantly, I gotta stick with Marsie on this one. Under "normal" situations, I'd say FM, but I don't think the economy could absorb the hit...unless bankruptcy would allow for at least GM to stay afloat. Oh, and I absofuckinglutely hate GM and its multi-decades of mediocrity. It makes me feel like such a tool, pitching on their behalf, but these are trying times. I'm gonna go take a shower now

All good points, but for my part I don't even care that much about the auto workers themselves, it's the cascading effects through the economy that have me worried. Each auto-worker job is responsible for 4 or 5 more jobs among suppliers, etc. We don't even know what a real recession/depression looks like until we see that.

yes, your absolutely right! i'm so tired of wealthy people feeding us these b.s. about trickle down economy only when it refers to us giving them money and where supposed to pray it trickles down.

i'm no fan of the big 3 with their reluctance to produce more efficient and better quality vehicles but i am concerned about all those regular working people who would be directly and indirectly affected.

Bull! The Big Three are trying to hold us hostages with the fear that people will lose their job. Let it be, things will sort out!
This is time for evolution and adaptation rather than business as usual.

you might be right but i felt that same way about the bank bailout and they used the same fear tactics and got 700bil and there still handing out ridiculous bonuses. now the auto industry wants 30 bill and the politicians want to penny pinch? something doesn't make sense.

i totally agree with your last sentence and if there is a bailout then major change has to be included with the money
