Absolutely NOT over a radio. It is a matter of principle.
^Reman. is not necessarily a bad thing as Bear spoke of. The dealer may have been doing you a favor to the best of their knowledge at the time. How were they supposed to know the reman. unit would be as susceptible to breakage as the original?
PS All of this over a radio? Are you kidding me?
It is the same as if you had cancer and I wanted to put you in a trial for a new drug therapy and I told you all the great things about it and not the side effects. You know why this would be illegal on my part? Because I failed to tell you the important things which would enable you to make an informed decision since after hearing about the side effects you may not even want to be a part of the trial. But had I been UNETHICAL and you joined my experimental study trial and lets say, extremely burning piss came out of your dick and it burned like hell every time you went to take a dump, would I be justified in saying, "I was only doing you a favor and now you are bitching and want to file a lawsuit?" Similarly, I feel the dealer/GM should disclose everything and let the customer make this decision. Had he informed us that he thought a reman unit in his opinion was better and gave me the reasons why then I probably would have gone with a reman unit and if THAT had broken then there would be absolutely no issue as I made the decision, not him. The decision was taken out of our hands and was made for us. I have a fundamental problem with this. Shane, I hope you never have to come see me professionally as I am going into Hematology/Oncology so if anyone ever came to me it would be for cancer treatment. Now would you want me to make the decisions for you? Do you all want doctors to make decisions for you or give you all the info right down the middle and leave the decision in your hands? Now what if your lover or mother was involved in an accident and I knew he or she would be unconscious for ever or never improve. Would you want to make the decision to pull the plug or keep him/her on life support? Or would you want me to make that decision which WOULD be to pull the plug. Yes, I believe in pulling the plug. Would you then like to hear, "oh, I did you a favor."
It is not about a $500 radio. It is about the betrayal and unethical practice.
BTW, to the previous poster, I did talk to 3 people, very nicely: 2 service advisors and the parts guy. I am now hoping that the local newspaper prints this so that dealership's sales suffer or the local news runs this story. If even one potential customer goes to another dealer or to a foreign vehicle then I will be elated. The way that I was treated and the attitude the service managers had over the phone is unacceptable. Now iIwant to try to hurt them where it counts, ie SALES. I doubt that anything much will happen. I am not going to actively go after this. I have written to the local newspaper and news channel as well as to Lou Dobbs, CNN. If I don't hear anything from them then I will just forget about it. After all I didn't loose but about $300 that I spent buying a pioneer as a replacement ( a better stereo); GM and the dealer lost by loosing an $18,000 sale of a new truck. This may not seem much but when there are millions of people like me, then what happens is that they need a bailout
. So THEY are the ones that lost in the end. We WILL be buying a Tundra instead and will feel patriotic doing this as NOW I feel that I would be helping to crush corrupt practices.
