Were the Arabs not big in the slave trade, buying from the African tribes and selling to the whities?

Diffy, you may want to run deep check on your family tree............

Barbary pirates struck as far north as Iceland

From the 15th to the early 19th century, European shipping was prey to Arab pirates from the North African Maghreb. These Barbary corsairs seized vessels, cargo and crew, who were enslaved and often worked to death either as oarsmen powering the pirate ships, or by labouring in North Africa. But their greatest value was as hostages.

It is estimated that well over one million Europeans were seized by the Arab slave traders. Raids became increasingly daring, with landing parties making off with villagers not only in the Mediterranean but as far north as Iceland. They captured 353 British ships between 1672 and 1682.

Rest of the story.........

I figure all of this took place before the Arabs finally realized that the Africans were much better workers than the Europeans, then and now, from what I hear.........

No, the Arabs were big slave traders before the rise of piracy in North Africa way before Islam. It was always in their culture to enslave people and still is

The African slaves were generally captured during tribal wars during the days of cannibalism. So it was probably even chances whether the victims were eaten - or sold to arab slave traders.

Seen from that perspective, maybe America wasn't such a bad destination...

Drew, you weren't here at the time but The Sun ran a series of articles by Gregory Kane in the '90's about slavery in Sudan. I can't find the series but this link goes to an story in which Kane and another reporter actually went to Sudan and BOUGHT two enslaved brothers, freed them and returned them to their family.

Are you a member of B.A.S.S?

Christians could be unHospitallerable to Muslims as well.
