Over river, through woods

Just had a slice of mom's pumpkin pie, cool whip spooned on top. (cue CJ)

Anybody else still nibbling on holiday food?

We sent ALL of ours north with the nephews and nieces. At 6'5", 175 and 13 years old, the nephew pretty much owns desert.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

Still have a good amount of left overs. Not much left of the maple mashed sweet potatoes, but we have plenty of mashed potatoes with Danish blue cheese. TONS of sage stuffing, some green bean casserole, TONS of cranberry marshmallow salad, and a few pounds of the smoked turkey (which turned out absolutely amazing, again, per the "Why Screw Around" recipe).

I'm told the Williams of Sonoma brine is fairly similar to the one in the Epicurious recipe I posted, if you're lazy. And it provided exceptional results as well.

Pies, lesseeeee.....About 1/4 of the homemade pumpkin pie, about 1/2 of the homemade pecan pie, and about 1/3 of the strawberry rhubarb from a local restaurant famous for pies (Tippins? pfft). The two-dozen Texas Roadhouse rolls are all gone, and made great buns for turkey/cream cheese/cranberry jelly/stuffing sandwiches.

After tomorrow it'll probably be all gone but for some turkey.
