If this is a recession, bring it on. Just look at all the long lines... Not soup lines, but lines of shoppers waiting to break down the doors of Wal-Mart to start buying! Lines of shoppers trampling security guards to death in order to buy things!! Lines of shoppers waiting to spend outrageous sums on overpriced iPhones!!! 6.7 million shoppers per minute flooding the Internet on Cyber Monday. ETC. ETC. ETC. It's the damndest "recession" I have ever seen!!!!
I am well-aware of the NBER's mishmash of calculations that few economic "experts" understand and/or support as a definition of anything--especially a recession. As I have said before, I pay little heed to what the so-called experts "say," and focus almost exclusively on what the actual data show. And so far, there is still no recession. I suspect we could be in one, but until I see the GDP data, as revised in February, I will not be convinced.
Don't believe everything you think
