Simply put, he is a status quo guy who will preside over our government as if it isn't broken. Just more of the same...

95% of Americans don't pay taxes?

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I really think he will do fine. I am not all that happy with the "no checks and balances" thing. I do think that there will be a need for some unbridled actions to reverse some of the Bush mistakes but then there needs to be balance brought back in.
Head in the sand? Have you seen the bi-partisan reports of him being "THE MOST LIBERAL MEMBER OF CONGRESS"--to the left of Kennedy, et.al...

So far he doesn't look like that, perhaps because being President of all of us forces him to the middle. At least I hope so! So far so good...

And if he keeps Gates at DoD I may have to rethink my concerns about the guy. He is starting to look very moderate and centrist, which is a surprise to me.

Hey, I know exactly who I am, and I haven't changed one bit--pragmatic and politically incorrect as ever.

Yes I have seen the reports. But "most liberal member of congress" in a congress that is mostly in the middle is not necessarily FAR LEFT.

It simply means that there are, as nearly everyone knows NO far left members of Congress. We really don't tend to elect Senators that far LEFT any longer. Haven't for a couple of decades.

The C300 is "THE CHEAPEST MERCEDES IN AMERICA". That doesn't mean it is particularly cheap nor does it mean it is bad. It just lands where it lands on the survey charts because there is not a less expensive one offered at this time.

You must not know of Barney Frank or Bernie Saunders.
