Just in case you didn't see the advertisement. I know some of you like to use shitty browsers like Firefox that are incompatible with most of the internet and crash like crazy when you do something other than read digg.com, and you miss out on the cool stuff like giant Porsche Cayenne ads on BenzWorld.

Germans. Pffft......
My opinion and I own one, I have loved all my MB’s but I like my Cayenne S… a lot!

I drove and looked seriously at both the ML and the new GL before the Porsche and both frankly left me uncontrollably yawning. I find both the ML and GL styling bland on a good day and I see about a hundred of both over the course of my day. No uniqueness whatsoever. They left me with no sense that passion played any part of their design or development. Very much “just transportation” for the suburban set. I know, they claim amazing safety and trailering capabilities, but honestly, pulling capacity is 2% of my decision criteria. I hauled a trailer exactly twice with the Range Rover it replaced.

The overall dynamics and performance characteristics of the Cayenne I felt were superior to the Benz’s I drove. I got the feeling that some of the Porsche lineage did translate to this vehicle. Granted, it isn’t a 911 S but it isn’t a brick either. It’s fast, handling quick and decisive, it’s fun to toss around and I can put a lot of stuff in it once and a while. One thing you should consider is your confidence level. Are you prepared for the “horrible stigma” of driving a Porsche “SUV” that the purists reel against? Personally, I never felt it nor gave it a thought. I have found the majority of the self-proclaimed Porsche pundits that chat me up at the fuel pump and grumble about its very existence, haven’t even driven the vehicle. They just need to get over themselves and except that car production is after all a business. They fill a demand. And in this case, pretty well IMO.

Overall, I say give it a shot. At the end of the day, it’s all just sheet metal.

I forgot how much I dislike the CLS. It really is the white trash Mercedes, designed to get all those wife beaters out of their Dodge Chargers. I feel the Panamera looks better, good even.

Have you seen the back end? Looks like a Chrysler Crossfire, which Jeremy Clarkson correctly described as looking like "a dog squatting to do its business".

I nomally love Porsche design, but that Panamera fell out of the top of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Those are pics of the concept. That would have been fantastic. They let some Cayenne designers in the room and tweaked it into ugly. It's awful. Time will prove me right. They missed, didn't have to.
