We have a recycler here in Central Kentucky who is part of the network that insures that waste product is correctly stripped, broken down, recycled where possible and the remainder disposed of. Mercury is removed and securely addressed and other trace elements are also disposed of via EPA processes.

I have been using this group for nearly 20 years and they are awesome. We have shipped down 900 workstations from NYC to have them processed in 2000 and at other times it is a simple laptop disposal. All HDDs are magnetized and chopped for data security and that is on video upon request.

Everybody should have a resource like this. If one is not in your area, it is an excellent business to look at.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
