NEW YORK (AP) -- Washington Mutual Inc., which was bought by JPMorgan & Chase Co. in September after the bank failed, said Thursday its board of directors named Robert J. Williams Jr. as president, replacing William Kosturos.
Williams, 49, had been working as senior vice president and corporate treasurer at Washington Mutual Bank since February 2005. As president, he will receive a salary of $175,000 per month from his start date of Nov. 13 to March 12.
As of March 13, and through Nov. 13 of 2009, we will serve as president part time, receiving $75,000 per month, while free to work full-time elsewhere
Between Nov. 14, 2009 and March 14, 2010, he will receive $50,000 per month. If he is still retained after March 14, it will be on a month-to-month basis.
Meanwhile, Washington Mutual also named John A. Maciel, 41, chief financial officer, general auditor, and controller. He will also retain his prior positions of executive vice president, additional restructuring officer, assistant secretary and assistant treasurer.
Kosturos will continue working as chief restructuring officer, executive vice president and secretary.
