I generally accept most points made in previous posts but then, I & most other Mercedes owners are car freaks. We have pride in well-made cars that others tend not to share. To many people, a car is an appliance like a refrigerator. An MB owner would never feel this way!
But, a lot of good cars have been made by Detroit. I have in my garage a 1997 Lincoln Continental and a 2007 Mercedes E-320. The Lincoln drives and rides great. I regularly carry several full-size people and they always express appreciation when I use the Lincoln (which gets 23 mpg city and 26 to 28 mpg highway). I also have a 2500 Dodge RAM quadcab with the Cummins diesel. There is not another truck in the world that performs as well as this truck. I've pulled an RV trailer all over the north American continent, crossing all the major mountain chains and it never lags back. If you want to really test a truck (or car), cross the US, east to west, and then take the Alaska highway to Fairbanks and then back to the east coast via Canada.
Flirting with Shane is not the free pass to this place that it used to be. God knows, I've been there and done that.
