In YOUR lifetime, who was the most influential Vice President while in office?

No wiseass selections of "Vacant" please.

Remember, you had to be alive when they were in office and I said "influential".

Oh, yeah. Current life only, Qubes. That little stint as young Tom Jefferson's whipping boy/sex toy and the other life as Mary Ingalls don't count.

I expected that to be FTL's choice.

Not even a close second. Cheney wielded as much or more influence as GW through the first term. That kind of power/influence from the VP office is unprecedented, AFAIK.

I agree that Cheney is the obvious choice. I would also state that one or both of the vacant's likely outrank most of the rest (esp. GWHB and Quayle).

What a threadkiller. I thought you might go Nance but it's possible you weren't born yet.

Thank God Palin out on this one...

Canadians don't have Vice-Presidents.We know better. Actually, Biden is well-liked by Canadians who follow USA politics. Biden/Obama have the potential of being a very dynamic team, way more than Bush/Cheney.Of course "dynamic" is not used in the same sentence as "McCain". As for Palin, it's bad enough she's on our border up north. But if that person became VP it would mean we'd have to come down and burn your White House again. Besides, would you really want her in the Lower 48? And, God forbid, she travels abroad passing herself off as being 'representative" of the USA. The global media would crucify her AND the state of USA politics.

Ditto. Kill this thread now for excessive obviousness.
