TNTRower, strictly speaking from a policies point of view.

1) If you don't agree with BO's policies why did you vote for him?

2) Is there anything set forth to further insure your vote wasn't in vein?

3) Since you didn't vote for McCain, what do you think he could have done different to obtain your vote?

1) I voted for Obama for two reasons:
a) I might be wrong and he could have the right answers
b) The McCain campaign was doing nothing to show me that McCain believed in core conservative principles (reduced government spending, reduced government intervention in private business, increased individual freedoms.

To that end I was looking at the next Presidential election. Give the democrats the country for 4 years unfettered. It looks like they might have a veto proof majority. Let them have it and run it into the dirt. This will give rise to a new conservative movement hopefully led by people who are not Washington insiders. At the very least the upcoming Democrat Hegemony will either succeed wildly or fail miserably. If it works then Huzza! Hsppy days are here again. If it fails (my money is on this option) conservatives will be there to pick up the pieces. I am insulated, I have my assets and am able to protect my family.

2) Anything to insure my vote for Obama was not in vain? Good question. We can only vote our consciences.

3) If McCain had come out and hammered Obama on his socialist agenda and in turn started talking about how he would reduce government spending as a way to help pay for the bailout that would have gone a long way. If McCain had come out and promised to finish building the border fence that would have helped. If McCain had come out and enumerated in simple terms how implementing the Fairtax plan would actually increase government revenues that would have done it for me.

Alas he did little of anything and nothing with the Fairtax.

Thank you for the intelligent response. I have a feeling a lot of voters who wanted to vote for McCain felt the same way. Actually I thought for a while there McCain had a really great chance. In my opinion I don't think the media was doing the McCain camp any justice either. I also believe McCain focused to hard on unpopular issues that didn't really go over well with voters. I think this campaign will be one I will come back to in the years to come to really see what happened. To hear the stories we couldn't do to the fact that they where taking place just a month ago.

I'm just curious, how many times do people need to hear that their beliefs are wrong (as in, from different sources), before they understand that fact?

For example, it took McCain to tell people that Obama wasn't an Arab; the news media has all said repeatedly that he's not a Muslim; the Socialist Party of America says he's not a socialist; soooo what does it take?

My son, I asked him how many times I needed to tell him not to do something before he understood, and we narrowed it down to 10 times. So now I ask him "Do you need me to ask you that 10 times, or are we good?" And he gets the point quicker.

If I can find out what some of you guys' currencies are, I'll start to use it.
