Greetings From West Virginia!

A local businessman came in today and told me something he overheard while doing some work at the local police police station here in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Apparently, he overheard "the big fat policeman" in the office speaking over the radio to some troopers in the field about President elect Obama. Among other things, he was making the comment that "someone needs to take him out".

Now, I find this incredibly disturbing. If it were just some redneck, I would take it for what it is worth, but this is a police officer who carries a gun and would be one of the group charged with the President's safety if he were ever to make an appearance here. He just might have an opportunity to make good on his threat.

What am I supposed to do with this knowledge?

EDIT: I'll get better details. I was a bit stunned, so I didn't get the specifics I should have.

I really don't want to draw attention to myself.
I'm thinking something anonymous?

Not reporting it in and of itself is a crime, you need to call the SS right away.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Wow, I agree, the secret service needs to know. You don't have to tell the officer you reported the threat. That's as anonymous as you can keep it.

Apparently, the fraternal order of police moved into the democratic headquarters in Fairlea, WV. A "300lb. deputy" was the major instigator, talking about "kill the nigger" etc., but others were in agreement.

Hearsay, but that's the story I got.

From the SS site:
The Secret Service is interested in legitimate information relating to threats, plans or attempts by individuals, groups or organizations to harm Secret Service protectees. However, the agency does not desire or solicit information pertaining to individuals or groups expressing legitimate criticism of, or political opposition to, the policies and decisions of the government or government officials.

Allowing for natural stupidity, I can not say for sure that his comments were more than simple "political oppostion". Maybe I'll convince the guy who told me the story to report it since he witnessed it.

You'll want to get hold of that "local businessman"; he's in this especially if he heard directly.
