What a contrast

between the invitation only concession speech where 3 out of 4 are perfectly coiffed blondes of all variants , and the huge rally ...

Concession speech was gracious and classy, and the acceptance speech was inspiring and hopeful.

I didn't hear any booing or hissing at the mention of John McCain or Sarah Palin's names at Grant Park while John McCain's aforementioned touch of class speech was marred only by incessant boos that ensued as a result of the mention of Obama's name, only to be admonished by the conceding Senator.

Your lens is pretty small! Maybe you should switch to a panoramic Shot!!!LOL! All in all....it surely was different. McCain's concession speech was good spirited, truthfully I will need to remind myself of the historic nature of tonight...not that it's based on race allthough important but upon America's decision to vote for the right person. America has voted...America has decided...America has a different future...Congratulation's Barrack Obama...Well done!

I am hopeful as an American and as a registered Republican that we the people of this great country will be able to look forward for the future with hope and endless unyielding faith with our new President Elect.

In a room full of Dems last night, the single comment that came as everyone listened quietly to McCain's very thoughtful speech. "If you had spoken to America like this the entire campaign this would have been your victory speech".

And that was from a Political Science Prof who, throughout the campaign had very little good to say about ANY of the campaigns.

Interesting coverage. I had set up four TVs at the house where we had the party so we could watch coverage from all majors at the same time.

You are dead correct that the contrast between the two campaigns was striking. No booing for McCain [and some applause] at the Obama event and a very angry and hurt looking group in Arizona.

I was very surprised that McCain did not have Palin speak since she was considered the "future" of the party though she did not look ready for that.

Same thing folks said in regard to Hillary's speech at the convention. It's one thing to hit for the cycle in one great game. It's another to win a batting title. And this was one looooooong political season.

I will second Naomilla's comments - and I hope John McCain's speech serves as the catalyst for his supporters to find a way to contribute - and that does not mean "roll over for Obama" to me, or likely to Obama. Obama made a point of saying he will listen most earnestly and intently when we disagree. I honestly believes he understands that a real contribution to the process of determining what policy should be comes from honest, earnest consideration of the widest possible perspectives. So, I have hope we are on track to working together as Americans to make a better America. From that will come a better life for us, materially (which is important in our present culture, lets not kid ourselves) as well as spiritually (being part of something that is bigger and more important to our children, grandchildren and on and on, that we are, alone).

So, thanks for the words of support Monster.

Jim

You guys are great, you think the rabid right wing is going to join you in your victory? No chance in hell. The right is already gearing up for slamming Obama for anything he does. Fear and hate does not die because someone gets elected.
