edit: A flat tax would be great but I dont think it could ever happen.

Did I say that half was taken out of my check? If I am correct, our paychecks are not a refection of how much we pay in taxes each year. If you want to add it all up, it is probably more than half of what we make.

Add it up then. If you pay half your income in taxes, we need an example of how to not run our personal finances.

I was not accounting for the fact that many of you may have kids. In that case, you pay much less since all of us without kids help you put them through school.
