most excellent, totally agree.

don't let any 8 years old to handle auto until they pass a semi .44 mag.

the future must be interesting, not sure I want to be a part of it.

Having fired a M-16 on full auto, as well as the m60, I find this act completely beyond the physical capabilities of a 8 year old boy. I watched a instructor pick up a m60 while it was being fired by a 90 lb recruit and pry his finger off the trigger because the recoil was moving him off target and dangerously close to being off range. I was taught to hold down the front of my m-16 while shooting full auto to keep it somewhat close to the target. A uzi is a lot shorter then my m-16 and the recoil almost the same. Even if they had the shoulder stock that would put any kid on his ass. The instructor should have known better and should be held responsible. As well as the parent. Set the example so no one has an excuse the next time.

Too bad he did not shoot the instructor's foot.

I must admit, I was about that old when my old man initiated me into Gun Nut Culture via .22 and 410 ga, but for christ sakes, there ought to be a law on an eight year old shooting a fucking machine gun.
I learned on a 22 rifle, worked up thru several shot guns (starting with a pump of course), and then onto a .30-06 with a nifty scope. I don't shoot anymore. I like it still, but have too many other hobbies. I have a simple Beretta for protection.

completely beyond comprehension....

I agree the parent will live a 'life sentence' but as an ED director - he is nothing short of a f*cking dork idiot, exposing a child to that? Where were his brains? Surely in his balls - testosterone filled 'my son is a gun toting hero' - loser......

I find this very hard to believe what school is this (rambo training?). They will be issuing carl gustav rocket launchers to 5 year old kids next semester

Even if the kid could handle the weapon, suppose someone pissed him off at school then what? I love guns and rifle ranges, but they were always properly supervised.

Crazy world, and yes the parant will have to live with this for the rest of his life.

ERIC.

9mm I presume
No exp with an Uzi
but soft and reasonable recoil surley
Having fired a Stiring SMG on full auto
And i was only a wee runt of 8 or 9 stone
Kicked up for the first three or so rounds, then bring her back down like a hose, doddle to control
and actually actually assuming the M60 was about the same weight as the LMG i also fired on full auto, same 7.62 round = easy to control
fuck all to do with the size or weight of the firer( within reason)
ALL to do with brain function, or the lack thereoff
I would however say it was terminally stupid
to give an 8 year old a full auto with more than say three rounds loaded
and regardless of the legal responsibilities of range control
what stature was the eight year old though/
regardless regardless
the father fucked up
and yes the entire shooting community will pay the price
PS
My dickhead of a step father in law boasted about how "his boy" aged 12 or 14 ( as I recall) could fire the .44" Magnum, single handed,
so you dont got them all over there
PPS
I let "my boy" aged 12 or 14 fire a 12 gauge shotgun, a light sporting one, no recoil pad either, single cartridge loaded only, lesson learned, he allowed he would leave it to he was older and bigger.
