Dude, it's the inherent potential disaster these things are capable of, that is the point, not the fact that you pointed out that so far we have been lucky; go tell that to the Russians.
If a plant goes south, it can take hundreds of thousands of people with it if not millions, this ain't no chicken shit to be taken lightly.
Don't get me wrong, I am ALL FOR nuclear power. I am an engineer and I understand the risks associated with such power source. I don't think Obama is against nuclear power either but his erring on caution is being spun by McCain as a refusal to allow our country to grow in this area, this is clearly bullshit.
Here is the situation though; nuclear power MUST be regulated so the typical GOP bullshit talk about deregulating anything and everything will be counter productive if not downright dangerous in this case. I would trust Obama on this before I fall for McCain's desire for nuclear at all costs.
