Indonesia, we have normal stations like below but these guys above are hold overs from the the old days when the ones below were fewer and farther between, even now in some areas they are scarce but you plan your day and if you don't you stop by the bottle guys. My wife fills up as the gauge reaches 1/4 and me I wait til the light comes on...........

Indonesia State Oil Company Pertamina Petrol Station

We are also getting more and more Shell stations around but lately they seemed to have hooked with a crooked contractor who did such shitty work with installing the tanks that after 6 months 2 of their stations have not been able to open doe to leaking tanks before they pump 1 liter...........

We also have as a 3rd alternative the Malaysian State Oil Co. Petronas that is now selling petrol and diesel here in Jakarta but s far maybe only 5 or 7 stations scattered about at key sites.

QBN, Smart Guy !
Exxon 's profit only 30% is from US domestic mkt. 70% is from oversea operations. It is an US oil company, it you think other countries in the world are so stupid to let a foreign company to make profit out of their countryman you are out of your mind. Exxon's down stream profit is very low in 2nd QTR because of high crude spot. Most of their profit is from crude spot out of NYSE/London exchange. You are so blind to look at the total of the profit without to evaluate the ROI as your logic. If I am investing in oil company's stock today, I will not even consider Exxon. If you are only happy with companies does not make money in their QTR report as perfect environment for consumers, you should be living in a communist regime. It will be totally make yourself a fool to invest in stock market because companies should not make profit.

Q
Today report on gas from CNBC, Laredo, TX has Reg. Gas at $1.95. This must be the Christmas for you. This is the time for new green tech. to hoard all materials for the future Energy Independence but as usual, that will not happen, because no ONE banker will loan you the $ when the crude is at this level. All alternative energy is unprofitable and put on hold. Until, one day, the crude is back to 100 or 120 before any chance for new alternative energy development. This is supply /demand open market economy for the current world. No one able to overcome it. Unless some rich people willing to stick out their neck to give out investment as donation for the benefit of the poor in the future.

You keep coming up with these bizarre tangental extrapolations of what I've been saying.

My point all along has been that the price of oil and gasoilne spent a fair bit of time having NOTHING to do with supply and demand. The air from the American housing bubble escaped into oil & gasoline commodities for a while, then deflated again.

Furthermore, when oil prices are inflated and the ratio between oil prices and gasoline prices gets smaller, consumers are being taken advantage of. Until oil returns to sub-$40 / barrel prices, it's inflated. Still. We're using less and less of the stuff, and we use more than anyone else on the planet.

If the oil ever goes to $40 or under I will send you a check for $10 or you can send me yours for $3 if it ever happen before this Christmas. Do we have a bet ? $10 or $3 will not break either of us. But I will keep your check as trophy instead of clear it. That crude price has to be at closing of that day's market.

Go read Post #22 now, Daisound. Can you pronounce or comprehend the term "inversion"?

I guess if you're ignorant of the laws enacted to protect consumers from price gouging by oil and gasoline companies and you think being raped at the pump means you should hedge by investing accordingly, then now is a good time to buy XOM.

I do not see oil is going down to $40 as you wish. It must be EXXON to tell all oil producer to beat up crude again to $69, Ha.. Ha..

Just because there's no reason for it to be over $40 obviously doesn't mean it won't be; I'm simply pointing out that it's over-inflated. A lot. Global demand has not increased 50% since January of 2006, nor has demand increased 65% since 2004...so why have oil prices gone up that much in the same period of time? Asshole.
