Dog's gone mental

YouTube - Ramones - Go Mental (Live)

My poor Maxi is the sweetest dog alive but he has epilepsy and is on 40 mg of phenobarbital daily. He will go an entire month without a seizure and then BAMM! have 4 seizures in one day. He is usually anxious after the attacks but this time he's all fucked up, wandering aimlessly and whining like crazy. We've taken him to our favorite vet as well as 4 others and they are all very nondescript about a diagnosis. Anyone else have a similar problem? I love him to death and hate to see him whacked out like this

Shit, its terrible to hear that. Has he always had this problem and how old is he?

Approaching 2. He didn't have a seizure until he was 1 which is common for epilepsy in dogs as opposed to a brain tumor or other factor. I've been searching for alternative drugs and have found a few but these fuckin' vets seem very unsympathetic and clinical.

Maybe they feel it cannot be treated and worry you may sue them if the treatment does not work.

I know this is not helpfull and I am a big dog lover, but for the dog to suffer like this, it is better have him put to sleep. If my dog suffered like this and I could not get good vet advise, then I would seriously look to put the poor fella out of his suffering as it will get worse.

But hang on in there for a while, someone may come up with something. Have you tried any VET/Dog forums?

ERIC.
