I have one question in my mind and like you guys for an opinion. If we run a popular vote only to the arm force today, what will the reasonable outcome ? Will it be McCain or Obama ? If Obama really the president, for next election, we run the same popular vote count with the arm forces, what will be the reasonable outcome ? Will it be the same as this time ? If you guy think you, yourself is more for the country than those kids in the arm forces and probably wiser, is that true you are always protected by someone willing to fight for their values with their life more than cowards like us. We all know that the pay with the arm forces are much less than our rewards form the private sector.

Sorry, but pawns aren't in charge of the chess game, and this isn't a military dictatorship. Welcome to America.

yeah, like who gives a fuck how they vote. Professional armies always vote for who is paying them the most, as has been true thru all of history.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Your premise is flawed because you can't know what would happen in the intervening four years to change opinions.

And you assume that the folks on the board have not been or are not in the military. I know of at least 5 or 6 consistent posters like myself.

Fascism always begins with a glorification of the military.

In 1968 we had two big political assassinations within months of each others, a Democratic Convention that pitted a city's establishment against a raging new movement, race wars going on throughout the country, burning of inner cities in Watts, Newark, Detriot in 65-67. Viet Nam was going very bad, the country was torn apart like at no time since the not so Civil War. Many people thought that it was the beginning of the end of Democracy.

We came out the other side much stronger in many ways.

This election, while at least as important as 1968, and I believe as important as 1932 is not as divisive as 1968. We simply have a media that needs ratings and churn makes ratings.

We will, in the end be stronger. And chicks dig scars.

I started watching that too, but had to leave around 9 pm. I want to see that Chicago 10 in full. Thanks McBear you always shed some light on dark topics.
