Undecided Voters

David Sedaris on undecided voters. Hehehe.

I look at these people and can’t quite believe that they exist. Are they professional actors? I wonder. Or are they simply laymen who want a lot of attention?

To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.

They were just talking about that on CNN too. I get a kick out of conversations with otherwise smart people who ask me "Man, what are we gonna do?" I don't think any of them can really believe they have to vote for either McCain or Obama, and keep waiting for something terrible to come out and be revealed about one of them to make the decision easier.

But I agree with the sentiment above. If God himself came down and pointed to one of them, the decision couldn't be any easier.

Let me see here.

We've got Obama who claims pure socialism is the way. How much of that is true is any one's guess, after all, the money always feeds the presumed winners.
We have McCain who swears he is his own dog and is considered a Democratic Republican by most in the know, but is hindered and helped by his inherited constituents. He hasn't really distanced himself enough from the W. massacre.
We have no viable third party candidate either in reality or in theory.

Now tell me again why shouldn't someone be on the fence?

Okay, here's what McCain just told Wolf Blitzer:

"I'd have vetoed literally every spending bill, even those that I had voted for, if I was President of the United States, and made them famous the way Ronald Reagan did."

What. The. Fuck. Does he think his job as Senator really is?

It gets better.

"When you are in an extraordinary crisis, obviously you have to take extraordinary measures."

Sounds a lot, a LOT, like 43 after 9/11 doesn't it.

By the way, the context was this financial crisis that apparently developed in the span of about 2 weeks since before that, the fundamentals of the economy were all "sound".

McCain is more dangerous than anyone else as President, because he cannot recognize problems before they're a crisis, and he wouldn't be able to tell a shitty spending bill from a solid one on his own.

To not see this as ridiculous, one would have to be a mythical "undecided". He voted for these bills as senator, but as president he would veto them?

So Shane, chicken or glass ala shit?

So let's see, he would vote for them, veto them, waste the country's time and, like Reagan, have to raise taxes, put the country in a recession anyway and pop $2.8T in Deficit Spending. Good analogy there Macca.
