Same way Bush gets everything he wants now. $700B to stop the next great depression, sure! Legalize warrantless domestic wiretapping? No problem! Allow the CIA to torture, hey, we love it!

Actually, that's not true.

I've definitely seen sides of issues to which I was previously unexposed. I'm embarrassed at the ignorance revealed by my prior posts.

In all honestly, I think what has NOT changed is my basic principle of fairness and justice. Lots of the positions I used to claim as "conservative" were really Republican, or possibly anti-Liberal. They were useful only for the purposes of argumentation - little more than that. As the Republican party has moved further into uncharted territory, like some genetic mutant, so too it appears I have moved.

What appears outwardly as a shift from "red" to "blue" is in reality the result of education. With the information I had at the time, I felt my positions were defensible, and more importantly, genuine. I'm no hypocrite. In light of details which had been foreign or invisible before, what I used to perceive as right and fair are no longer so.

Some of what you read is a game. Arguing for argument's sake. Trolling, or at least trolling disguised as sarcasm.

So I haven't moved, haven't changed. But I have become more informed, and maybe I face a different direction than before. It's been a fun ride.

And it's all your fault. And Bear's, kinda. And FTL to a certain extent. Convincing and persuasive, you lot...

No, I acknowledge that information affects my thinking. The source is only relevant if it's exclusive or singular in nature - those can be safely dismissed. When the source is merely pointing out information that can be considered as fact by any newsperson/executive/politician, that person's individual persuasion becomes irrelevant.

Ok...just a random post here...

Firstly, I'm not (perhaps unfortunately) an American...but my cousins are and I regularly "do some time" in Smog City, CA...if that counts...

Anyways, as an expat German turned South African (thanks to my, uhm, "insightful" parents; and I'm sarcastic saying that, just if anyone's wondering) who likes to follow politics (and who spends a significant amount of his free time staring at CNN), I'd just like to say...I would have voted Obama...

Ok, so why (if it matters)...well, change is super good, and senator McCain is somewhat (in my humble opinion) out of touch with "today", and no, I'm not even talking about his ignorance regarding the internet...I'm just summarising his entire campaign here...oh and please, his taxation policy's a nightmare to begin with!

Well yah, Moby's blog - journal | moby.com (and I'm not a fan of the man) does an excellent job of summarising the entire campaign, but I'd like to say this: the world (and America) is obviously facing a couple o' interesting challenges (the current financial crisis is just the start)...so people, "freshness" is the key here!

Best,
P.

I saw this special on PBS the day. It highlighted the campaign of both BO and JM…
I saw it as well – if elected president and he runs the country the way he ran the Harvard Law Review as its president, Obama will be successful.
