GOP Stressed Out Over Prospects of Losing More of Congress and the White House

Check out this Hardball interview of Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann by Chris Mathews:

GOP Rep. Channels McCarthy: Obama "Very Anti-American," Congressional Witch Hunt Needed

Here is a summary, but invest a few minutes to watch the clip.

"Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann claimed on Friday that Barack Obama and his wife Michelle held anti-American views and couldn't be trusted in the White House. She even called for the major newspapers of the country to investigate other members of Congress to "find out if they are pro-America or anti-America."

Appearing on MSNBC's Hardball, Bachmann went well off the reservation when it comes to leveling political charges against the Democratic nominee.

"If we look at the collection of friends that Barack Obama has had in his life," she said, "it calls into question what Barack Obama's true beliefs and values and thoughts are. His attitudes, values, and beliefs with Jeremiah Wright on his view of the United States...is negative; Bill Ayers, his negative view of the United States. We have seen one friend after another call into question his judgment -- but also, what it is that Barack Obama really believes?"

Goaded by a Chris Matthews to explain exactly what she was talking about (at one point Bachmann seemed to imply that liberalism was anti-Americanism), the congresswoman waded deeper into the mud.

"Remember it was Michele Obama who said she is only recently proud of her country and so these are very anti-American views," she said. "That's not the way that most Americans feel about our country. Most Americans are wild about America and they are very concerned to have a president who doesn't share those values.""

Hey, notice I am not attributing this woman's episode here, which is about the visual equivalent of watching someone's brain fizz away like an Alka Seltzer tablet dropped into a glass of coke, to John McCain or his campaign. This woman has just gone nuts at the prospect of being dumped by the voters of her district.

Which is unlike the tantrum McCain threw about that guy Lewis calling out his campaign of racial hatred and division. Instead of taking on Lewis, chickenshit McCain in a very Bush-like move, attacked a bystander, Obama.

This is getting scary. I am not for McCain, but I am also not for a single party running the country. I already saw what that does and Democrats have no special immunity to the temptation to abuse power. It is also a way for dip shits, regardless of party, to get elected. Too much party shit, not enough leadership, intelligence and integrity.

Tail-Gunner Joe !!!!!

He was a war hero too.....

It is well documented that McCarthy lied about his war record. Despite his automatic commission, he claimed to have enlisted as a "buck private." He flew 12 combat missions as a gunner-observer, earning the nickname of "Tail-Gunner Joe" in the course of one of these missions.[11] But he later claimed 32 missions in order to qualify for a Distinguished Flying Cross, which he received in 1952. McCarthy publicized a letter of commendation which he claimed had been signed by his commanding officer and countersigned by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, then Chief of Naval Operations. But it was revealed that McCarthy had written this letter himself, in his capacity as intelligence officer. A "war wound" that McCarthy made the subject of varying stories involving airplane crashes or antiaircraft fire was in fact received aboard ship during an initiation ceremony for sailors who cross the equator for the first time.[10][12]

McCarthy campaigned for the Republican Senate nomination in Wisconsin while still on active duty in 1944 but was defeated for the GOP nomination by Alexander Wiley, the incumbent. He resigned his commission in April 1945, five months before the end of the Pacific war in September 1945. He was then re-elected unopposed to his circuit court position, and began a much more systematic campaign for the 1946 Republican Senate primary nomination. In this race he was challenging three-term senator and United States Progressive Party icon, Robert M. La Follette, Jr.

The greatest irony will be that all those who actually think there is a difference between career politicians and who have been scrabbling to get the GOP out will be sorely disappointed if the dems get the oval office and all the extra seats in congress, and two years from now guess what, it's going to suck just as much as it does now. Until we implement some significant changes, whatever label these jackals affix to themselves just to play party politics (and tap all that money) is nearly meaningless.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)
