There is nothing wrong with ignorance. Ignorance can stem from a lack of interest in a subject. There are millions of people who drive cars every day and they are ignorant to the compression ratios or combustion chamber volumes of the engines under the hoods of their cars.
Yeah, but being ignorant of compression ratios or combustion chamber volumes of the engines under the hood of one's car does not make one a better driver. While it is nothing to disqualify someone as a human it is not a characteristic one would seek in a car mechanic to give your engine to for a rebuild.
Broad, general ignorance in today's world is a disadvantage when it comes to the struggle to survive. So, while it is not going to be used to identify what species you belong to, it may have a lot to do with how you live your life. God gave us these brains not to stupefy us with "the slime oozing out of our tv sets" but to use them to improve our chances at finding a mate who will improve the bloodline, and then to provide a suitable environment to ensure our, and our offspring's survival. Electing admire ignorance because relieving ignorance is too much effort is just not an acceptable outlook.
