Cool facility, the place is immaculate.

Gotta try to find a mini-USB cable to get some pictures uploaded. Pulled in smack behind the #24 Sprint Cup car hauler, which my son would have enjoyed immensely. Pretty awe inspiring to be walking amongst those teams on the infield.

This is one of the more beautiful parts of the country. Too bad it's cluttered by McCain - Palin signs. Bear, if you couldn't get one, it's because they're all here between Greensboro and Martinsville for some reason.

NO RAIN!

Have fun at the race. You should really enjoy the "color".

If you can't find a mini USB cable, get a USB multi card reader. They are pretty cheap and very useful.

I do PR work on the side for a development driver who's getting his first start. Which basically means I have pit credentials for the race. Watching the radar though, it may be tough to get practice in today.

Here's some pics from day 1.

Thenk yew...

Scott Speed's name is on the driver door of the #84 car in the Cup garage. Walked past JPM in the pedestrian tunnel beneath turn 4 - he had his zip-up fleece covering most of his face, but I still said "Juan..." as he walked past. He can't be 5' 6". There were some professional autograph seekers in there later on in the day, which probably scared off what was left of the drivers.

My driver acquainted himself with Jeff Gordon briefly, sat next to Speed in the rookie driver's meeting (wasn't able to socialize), etc., but lots of people were pretty much absent all day due to the complete rainout.

We thought rain might mean curtains for us, but it turns out that rain might not be all bad. They added a practice session for trucks in the morning at like 8:00am, then they'll qualify on the regular schedule. We were hoping the rainout today would result in an interpretation of the rules that put us in the field for Saturday...no such luck. Probably better that our boy earns his way in anyway.

The guys at Racing Electronics radios are studs, every one of them. Wish I had my camera in their hauler; they were working on two helmets for Jeff Gordon, and one for Kyle Busch. Surprisingly small, both of them.

More pics shortly, what few I had the ability to take.

Here's today's. Man, 10 hours of rain will pretty much kill your mood.

Aside from taking care of tech inspection "fail" items, we worked out kinks with the new radios and getting Russ situated in the seat w/ belts and the Hans device. Then waited a bunch to see what the weather would do.

Throwing in a couple of more from yesterday that I meant to but can only do 10 at a time.
