Once I found out what Diet drinks do to your system, and especially your brain, I stopped them cold.
And if you drink them for weight loss, or to control weight, forget it. They tend to have a reverse effect due to chemical effects in the brain.
A friend watched me drinking eight a day for three years. She sent me an email with six links [which I would need to fire up a computer with Lotus Notes to retrieve that note from 2001]. I went through the data, did some more research myself and just quit one day.
After a week of screaming caffeine and NutraSweet withdrawal headaches I felt much better [and started losing weight].
I got on the habit of so much Diet Coke while living in New York City because their Iced Tea pretty much SUCKS unless you eat at a very nice restaurant [$50+meals]. Afterwards I simply drank water or lemonade.
Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
