This experiment is at its end if we allow it to be. Personally, I'd like to dust off the COTUS and start again. It really was a great idea.
If we're just going to end up back here in another couple hundred years, what's the point?

So the question becomes, how do you make it better? Do you put 25% of the country in abject poverty, 30% in tight position, 30% with their heads above water and 15% doing great? Because if you move to eliminate all the current stuff that is provided, that is what is going to happen. And the unintended consequences will be staggering.

Or do you work on a way to make folks lives better? And from that position oppose Trickle Down with flow up. In the end, the same businesses will have the money, but the quality of life in the middle of the process will change for everyone. And with very few exceptions for the better.

It is simply a different economic model. Supply Side has failed. Libertarian has never been tested, Socialism has a poor record. It is time to go to the white board and make NEW BOXES and make it work. Paul likes to discuss the Austrian School of Economic Thought. It's about time we develop a new American School.
Let's try this one:

Eh, my thoughts are to lay the foundation for our children to regain liberty, freedom, etc., all that stuff that made that Lee Greenwood song popular.

Of course I agree in principle, but I'm caused to speculate about the futility of it all.

This is a nation that has become far, far too stupid. A recent experience at an Arby's had me ready to re-enact the scene from "Falling Down".

I'll await Bear's final answer to the OP question.

If true, we'd be against that, right? I mean, we'd all have to go libertarian, I would presume, right?

Sorry, I can't provide a comprehensive answer. I only have two thoughts here. First, the people and institutions who have failed should be made to suffer the consequences of failure. No consequence --> no lesson learned, no lesson learned --> repeat the mistake. Second, you and Q wouldn't be talking about giving money away if money had real value. If there was a neighborhood tax collector demanding a pound of gold to hand over to your slacker neighbors, you might take some small offense at the idea. But since money has no real value any more, WGAS?
