Courtesy in traffic.

I have a longstanding habit of thanking people for letting me merge into traffic with a wave or a thumbs up.
When another car and me arrive at the same time at a stop sign, I usually invite the other car to go first by hand sign.
Some drivers are appreciative, others oblivious, or had little manners to start out with.
Whether courtesy is reciprocated or not, It makes for a more relaxed driving experience on my part.
Another peeve is the non use of direction signals, and that includes police cars.
Cheers

Years ago I did that to a tailgater going North on the 710 Fwy just before the 5 interchange.
The driver of the other car tried to get next to me in heavy, but flowing traffic. At the last possible moment, I merged from the lanes to the 5 Fwy right into the N bound 710 traffic, and lost the car with a bunch of Cholo's.
When I got home, my drivers door showed two hits from a small caliber hand gun.
The percentage of L.A. drivers thought to have guns in their cars is high.
Cheers

I completly understand where you are coming from. I've experianced many aggressive hombres on California roads, it isn't pretty to say the least. They think they own the place. I can not understand how their brain works to justify trying to take someone's life for a traffic dispute.

Traffic courtesy, like common courtesy, is an oxymoron.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)

If that is so, I like to see myself as an exception.
