Personally, I would love to have the old fuckers battle it out with medieval weapons in an amphitheater. That would make them a lot more cautious about starting shit for no good reason.

As for the beatings, I am sure McCain is physically and mentally ground down from them. All the more reason to be concerned about his lapses of coherence of late.

Lapses in coherence...

Like Barack's visit to all 57 States? And 'ol Joe Biden telling a man in a wheel chair to stand up?

Yeah, I see your point...less...ness.

You sure seem to be clinging to those "gaffes." Compare them to McCain being unable to recall Spain is part of NATO and has forces in Afghanistan supporting our efforts there. Or his inability to recall much of anything in detail, such as his campaign manager's association with his "former" lobbying company (he is still a corporate officer there and is still drawing pay and will get a share of the Fannie and Freddy lobbying contract fee that only just this month is under review to be terminated, which will likely carry some termination fees....) or the difference between the various sects of Islam, or how many homes he owns, or if the fundamentals of the American economy are sound or not. The list goes on, and he is actually handicapping Palin, who is easily stumped by detail questions because she hasn't been briefed because McCain hasn't been briefed on any details, or if he has, he can't remember.

Get with the program. You don't seem to be just plain stupid, naive and belligerent and somewhat bellicose like McCain, but not entirely and hopelessly stupid. Write down some measure of coherence you would expect from the man, and then use it to measure him and Obama. Something that deals with relevant details. Observe for a week or two and get back to us. Tell you what Mr Jim. Why don't I use your "Measure of Coherence." Can you please share with us what it may be?

Yes, I could, but I won't. Because if I gave you mine, the issue at hand would be my yardstick and not McCain's incoherence as he failed to meet the measure of coherence I defined. It is best if you try to establish your own and then use it. Surely you understand the concept here. If I give it to you and the application of the yardstick becomes troubling, you have nothing invested and you can just discard the yardstick since it wasn't yours to start with. That makes the exercise meaningless.

I would suggest one of the places you start is that bag he carries around with him with all the "maverick" things he has done stuffed inside. All the "fight his party" examples. Take them out and, one at a time, examine them and compare them to the McCain running for President today. I did. I found very little left in the bag where McCain has not caved in and adopted his party's line, after he made good and valid arguments in the past for opposing them. Yet he holds the bag up, bursting with all these examples, as his record of being "The Maverick" as if they were current. In fact, the bag is really just full of examples of where John McCain, formerly "The Maverick" has flip flopped and become the GOP hack, pandering to the Christofacists and neocons who now run the party.

But, you make what you think is a reasonable yardstick for coherence and honesty, then use it to measure the man. Let us know where he comes out in the end. Jim

I'd say pronouncing the economy is sound one day, and then a few days later pronouncing the economy to be in such great crisis that it merits suspending a presidential election is pretty damned incoherent. I wonder, will he suspend the presidency when crisis hits if he is elected? McCain seems like a real lose cannon, the more this campaign goes on. Obama seems to be the one who has not let his emotions become in charge of his intellect in this crisis - without a doubt he looks the more "presidential" to McCain's constant gimmickery, which he resorts to every time the polls drop.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address
