McCain's suggestion to postpone the debate shows a surprising level of moral bankruptcy.
It's not a natural disaster. It's not an earthquake, hurricane, forest fire, volcano, tornado, or typhoon.
It's not a terrorist attack. We weren't struck unawares by a missile from North Korea, or hit with a truck bomb from some domestic wacko.
It's a bunch of rich guys who bought off both parties in the '90s, got reasonable regulations thrown out, went on a binge of bad investing, and lost their shirts. There is abolutely nothing that is being proposed now that couldn't have been done last month, or couldn't be done next month. The "emergency" is a sham, designed to deliver a massive government bailout of a bunch of fat cats under a false pretext.
But why not -- it worked in 2002-3, when Bush tricked a Congress and public that "wanted to believe" into declaring war.
